Akron, Indiana Where HomeTown Lives!
Akron, what is it like to live here?

Here is a snippet of our small town through the seasons.

Akron is in the heart of the Midwest. Wholesome hometown life of quiet side streets where children play and neighbors know one another. The smell of fresh cut grass and backyard barbeques drift through the streets on any given weekend. Swinging on a front porch is the favorite place to spend time in the humid evenings. Farmland dominates the countryside, making the young farmhands grow up strong and having better values.  Children play in the fall leaves while mothers gather in the last of their gardens.  Akron is a safe community where the children ride their bikes or skateboards down the streets until dark. Why is it that sun tea and lemonade tastes best when made in small Midwestern towns such as this one?

Akron has several communities of Amish in the area, so it's not uncommon to hear the clippity clap of  horse hooves hitting the street as it pulls the buggies to the local grocery store.

The winters here are cold and long, so the snowbirds all fly south for next few months. Young Akronites find anywhere they can make a hill to sled on and stay out for hours without getting cold.

Akron still has that feeling of a nostalgic community of yesteryear. If you are drawn to small town charm, love helping your neighbor, and want to have the feeling that you can make a difference, then you too, will find Akron to be your home!

While Akron is not quite Mayberry, it's darn close.

We welcome you to visit our town and all that we have to offer, either in person or through our website.  Our town is ever changing, and yet we are able to maintain the hometown feeling that most have known for generations.

Akron is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, so feel free to come down and enjoy the hometown feel of Akron.
